The outpatient part of the department of clinical haematology is concerned with the diagnostics and treatment of blood (haematological) diseases including haemocoagulation disorders. It also provides consultation services for the hospital and other health care facilities in the South-Bohemia Region. In indicated cases, the department accepts patients for long-term treatment. Inpatient (bed) haematological care is ensured in a dedicated ward inside the department of internal diseases, which is operated in a specialized regimen adjusted to the needs of haematological patients.
In addition to its standard activities, the outpatient part is concerned with the detection and treatment of conditions with excessive blood coagulation. The outpatient haematology section carries out bone marrow punctures for the whole Region, including all required subsequent investigations. It is the only workplace in the Region that conducts apheresis procedures (known also as “blood cleansing”) for all specialties in the Region.
