The department of urology, Hospital České Budějovice, a.s., provides comprehensive outpatient and inpatient urologist care for the former districts of České Budějovice, Prachatice and Český Krumlov, and higher specialized care for the whole of the South-Bohemia Region.
It is an important over-regional catchment area centre for the treatment of patients with urolithiasis (urinary stones) and offers the application of all state-of-the-art methods including those of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. It provides comprehensive services in the fields of diagnostics and radical surgical treatment of tumours, which includes programs of early detection of prostate cancer. It is fully equipped for the diagnostics and treatment of male infertility and erectile dysfunction. Another specialized program is the diagnostics and treatment of functional disorders of the lower urinary pathways, including female incontinence. The department is equipped with specifically modified rooms for patients with paraplegia and offers a high quality standard room.
The department has its own intensive care unit. Another integral part of our activity is specialized outpatient and surgical treatment of paediatric patients with urinary tract disorders.
The department of urology has been accredited by the Czech Ministry of Health for the comprehensive training of future specialists – urologists.
