Basic information:

The department of radiology conducts diagnostic investigations and therapeutic procedures using equipment and instruments based on X-ray radiation and under ultrasound guidance. Investigations with magnetic resonance imaging and computer tomographs are carried out not only for all departments of the hospital, but also for other health-care facilities in the South-Bohemia Region, both for inpatients and outpatients. The department organizes or ensures further education of radiologists and other health care professionals, both of its own staff and for other professionals, providing various forms of further education/training. The staff of the department also participates in the education of undergraduates from the School of Social Healthcare of the South-Bohemian University. The leading program of the department is the development of vascular interventional methods stressing the quality and safety of imaging.

The staff of the department works in individual workplaces, the operation of which is ensured by the head physicians. The department is divided into several workplaces:

  1. The central workplace, where fluoroscopy and radiography investigations are carried out as well as angiographies, including vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures.
  2. The workplace for CT, ultrasound, MRI, where both diagnostic and radiotherapeutic procedures are carried out.
  3. The workplace of mammography, carrying out not only diagnostic procedures, but also biopsies, including stereotactic biopsies, location of non-palpable breast lesions, and ductography.
  4. Other field (detached) workplaces providing basic radiography diagnostics.
