The department of otorhinolaryngology and head-and-neck surgery (ENT) provides examinations and treatment of disorders of the auditory and vestibular systems, airway diseases and disorders affecting the pharynx and oesophagus.
The inpatient (bed) section performs a comprehensive range of surgical procedures in the specialty using modern operating theatres for adults and children. A growing number of procedures are carried out in the form of one-day hospital stays.
The outpatient section provides its services in general and specialized offices:
Audiology (investigation of hearing – including the possibility of outpatient infusion therapy), otoneurology (inner ear and equilibrium disorders)), otology (middle and outer ear disorders, postoperative care), phoniatrics (speech and voice disorders, hearing impairments – hearing aids), logopedics (re-education of speech and hearing defects and disorders), rhonchopathy (therapy of snoring, OSAS), and paediatric ENT.
State-of-the art investigation instruments make it possible to examine hearing even in newborns. Early detection of impaired hearing enables us to correct the damage using hearing aids or cochlear implants, ensuring normal development of the affected child.
The department cooperates closely with other specialties in the treatment of head-and-neck disorders including tumours. Highly specialized and qualified care is provided both to inpatients and outpatients without catchment area restrictions.
