The Department of Nuclear Medicine

Head: MUDr. Ladislav Šabata

Head: MUDr. Ladislav Šabata

Basic information:

The outpatient section of the department of nuclear medicine performs diagnostic investigations that use radionuclides, and also provides regular outpatient follow-up care for patients treated with radionuclides and those with thyroid gland disorders. Investigations with radionuclides are carried out using 2 scintillation cameras, scintillation probes for the measurement of blood samples, and a probe for the measurement of organs. We cooperate with the department of general surgery in the field of sentinel lymph nodes imaging in breast cancer surgery and skin tumour surgery. Radionuclide investigations of the heart after exercise (stress testing) are performed using an ergometer set. The preparation of radiopharmaceuticals is conducted in a shielded laminar box, and radioactive labelling of blood cells is done in a separate laminar box.

The twelve beds of the department are used for highly specialized treatment of the thyroid gland, joint and skeletal disorders with radionuclides.
